A superb, rare and stylish Art Deco
Austrian bronze figure by Joseph Lorenzl
circa 1930,
of a dancer, striking a pose
the bronze cold-painted gold
and enamelled in pale red/brown,
mounted on a stepped green onyx base-
9.5in/24cm high
bronze marked Lorenzl
professional repair to the oynx base
This is a stunning Lorenzl bronze,
the only other example I have seen being a bronze and Ivory version
in the book on Art Deco bronze and ivories by Victor Arwas.
Joseph Lorenzl is one of the most well known of the sculptors from this period.
His art deco sculptures express the newly found freedom of the between the wars period.
